NYIAS: Land Rover’s Vision Concept Sets Amazingly High Bar for LR4

The New York International Auto Show is the scene of a lot of car news today. But for Land Rover, a more dramatic venue was needed to show their new secret. The company decided to unveil the new Vision concept at night on the deck of the nearby USS Enterprise, a retired aircraft carrier floating off the coast of the most significant city in the world. Nothing to imply might like a U.S. military vessel!

There were crazy laser lights used, and use of the carrier’s still active aircraft elevator to raise the Vision, not to mention a Virgin Galactic spacecraft—the kind that leave our planet—because the companies are partners now. The Vision itself—a precursor to new Discovery and LR4 models—is super cool: gesture controls to open doors, transparent hood technology, laser lights, terrain mapping, adjustable window tint, image display on the windshield, and even a remote control driving mode.

Check out the full rundown of the amazing evening at Motor Trend.
